Dr Niamatullah Ibrahimi is a Senior Research Fellow at the Initiative for Peacebuilding in Melbourne University. He completed his PhD at the Australian National University in 2018, where his doctoral thesis examined the dynamics of contentious politics in the context of the international intervention in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2017. He is the author of The Hazaras and the Afghan State: Rebellion, Exclusion and the Struggle for Recognition and co-author of Afghanistan: Politics and Economics in a Globalising State. He has previously worked with various NGOs and has a strong interest in global peace and justice.
